Having been in Chapel Hill for more than 25 years, Rivers Agency is committed to helping the local community and the people who call it home. Last month, Lauren Rivers and Rivers Agency hosted an event — the Y1K Helping 1,000 Kids at the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA — which raised nearly $15,000 for the YMCA of the Triangle’s annual We Build People campaign.
To date, the campaign has already raised $450,119, every dollar of which supports local children, families and communities in need.
“Every day the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA works side by side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive,” said Kim Grooms, executive director at the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA. “The Y has a long-standing track record and on-the-ground presence needed to address our community’s most pressing social issues related to community health, saving lives, developing future leaders and supporting achievement.”
Attendees enjoyed a fun-filled evening with live musical entertainment, a friendly Pop-a-Shot competition, drinks and food catered by acclaimed former Crook’s Corner executive chef, Bill Smith. Throughout the night, guests learned more about the YMCA’s mission and had the opportunity to give generously to the campaign.
“The YMCA is a special place where every member of our community is welcome to gather, learn new skills and improve their wellness,” said Lauren Rivers, board member of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA. “Our support ensures the Y can continue to offer the phenomenal and diverse programming that benefits our entire local community.”
