During The State of the Schools address on January 23rd, Dr. Becoats unveiled the Durham Public Schools’ dynamic new website. The Durham Public Schools’ new website features an engaging, easy-to-navigate design that skillfully represents the district and enhances the user experience. It also accomplishes a key goal in our Strategic Plan — strengthening our internal and external communications so that Durham Public Schools is more clearly positioned as an innovative and forward-thinking provider of quality education.
In creating this new website design, our team conducted a detailed study of site analytics. We studied how visitors arrive at the DPS website, which pages people visit most frequently, where they spend the most time and what sort of devices they use to access the site. Drawing on these key insights, our team developed a fresh, highly interactive look and feel for the Durham Public Schools website that makes it much easier for visitors to access our site and quickly find the information they need.
The new site features a long list of enhancements: a powerful new search feature; a Feedback button on every page that makes it easy to share information and opinions; a readily identifiable Español button; improved access to news and what’s happening throughout the school district; and suggestions for ways for parents, local businesses, and others to get involved. The new site also now works with all devices, including tablets and smart phones.
The updated site also features an eye-catching ad area at the top of the home page with a scrolling slideshow of images that promotes key themes of interest to the DPS community. Taking center stage will be the “I Am Ready” campaign that underscores the ongoing mission of DPS in providing an outstanding education to all of its students.
Thank you DPS. We appreciate the opportunity that you gave us to design your new website.
