Winning the MarCom Platinum Award in the Advertising Campaign category, the Experience Downtown Chapel Hill (XDCH) campaign shows off Rivers’ ability to use outside-the-box creativity and leading-edge industry trends. As one of the oldest, largest and most prestigious competitions in the world for creative agencies, MarCom is sponsored and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). 

The project was for Downtown Chapel Hill, a nonprofit partnership recognized by the IRS as a 501c3 charitable organization. The XDCH campaign was strategically designed to strengthen local businesses and invite the population to safely return to the downtown district of Chapel Hill. With modern branding, a vivid color palette and intriguing creative, this creative ad campaign filled local streets with pops of color and informational banners and signs. 

Award-Winning Advertising Campaign: You Can Help Me #WearAMask

Winning the MarCom Platinum Award in the Pro Bono category, the You Can Help Me #WearAMask campaign exhibits Rivers Agency’s full in-house capabilities and responsiveness. The MarCom Awards recognize talent that exceeds a high standard of excellence and are extremely well-respected in the creative community.

The You Can Help Me #WearAMask project was an ambitious PSA campaign that featured a variety of real people in the local Chapel Hill community to help promote the value of mask-wearing amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. This campaign adequately portrays Rivers’ in-house capabilities, as it included a television PSA, website design and development, inspiring creative materials and powerful social media content. Additionally, given the pressing nature and importance behind the campaign’s message, Rivers’ responsiveness and communication were vital to the project’s success. 

Award-Winning Advertising Campaign: First Bank@Home 

Taking home the MarCom Gold Award in the Integrated Marketing category, the First Bank@Home campaign is a prime example of River’s readiness to involve senior leaders and implement outside-the-box creative concepts. MarCom judges prioritize outstanding achievements by creative professionals regarding concept, direction, design and production of marketing and advertising campaigns. 

The First Bank@Home project was an advertising campaign for First Bank, an independent full-service community bank that prides itself on serving its customers with an approachable and friendly style. With this award-winning advertising campaign, Rivers and First Bank capitalized on the stay-at-home culture that resulted from the coronavirus pandemic by marketing a user-friendly online banking service. The creative work featured colorful, summer branding and seasonal icons to establish a positive connotation and better resonate with consumers. Additionally, senior leadership was heavily involved throughout the project to ensure flawless execution.
