Rivers Agency is proud to say that we’ve just been recognized as a ecologically responsible company by the Green Business Bureau, a nationally-known organization formed to encourage and promote sustainable business practices.

We decided to seek certification after moving into our new 4,700-square-foot office on the ground floor of the innovative Greenbridge Condominiums development on the edge of the UNC-Chapel Hill campus. Rivers Agency’s new space was designed by Phillip Szostak, an award-winning architect known for his elegant, minimalist designs and inspired use of sustainable materials.

For our new space, Phillip created an open layout with floor-to-ceiling exterior glass, bathing the work spaces with natural light. Rather than dividing the main floor with cubicles and walls, Phillip established workstation systems, with frosted glass dividers that provide separation yet allow easy collaboration among creative teams. The lower floor also has a state-of-the-art kitchen with energy-efficient appliances.

Opened in mid-2010, Greenbridge Condominiums is one of the most environmentally sustainable structures in the state. Greenbridge is the first development in North Carolina to receive LEED gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, which sets a national standard for energy-efficient, environmentally conscious architecture. The building’s features include three green rooftops, solar and thermal heated water and high-performance, floor-to-ceiling windows made of recycled glass.

“In our new space, we’re looking to build on this foundation of environmental responsibility and use our resources in the most efficient manner possible,” says Lauren Rivers, president and founder of Rivers Agency, a full-service advertising firm located in Chapel Hill. “To minimize our energy usage, for example, we’ve outfitted the space entirely with lighting systems and long-lasting LED lightbulbs from Cree Lighting, which is one of our clients.”

The Green Business Bureau, headquartered in Dallas, performed a comprehensive energy and property audit to certify Rivers Agency as an environmentally responsible company.

Ranked as the fifth-largest ad agency in the Triangle area of North Carolina, Rivers Agency offers integrated marketing and advertising, public relations, print design, web design and development, and TV and video production, all leveraging the latest in digital, social and mobile technologies.
